Marine Biological Laboratory Summer Undergraduate Research Program - Application Deadline

Are you interested in biology? Do you want to explore the different focuses and areas of biology?

Sponsored by the National Foundation of Science (NSF), the Marine Biological Laboratory (MBL) Summer Undergraduate Research Program will host 10 highly motivated undergraduates to conduct groundbreaking, biological research for ten weeks in Woods Hole, MA. Faculty with expertise in molecular and cell biology, neurobiology & behavior, physiology, developmental biology, and evolutionary biology will be matched to each participant in order to guide them through their research project of the student's chosen interest. Each undergraduate student will be placed in the laboratory of an MBL research scientist and fully participate in all hands-on and in-field laboratory exercises and activities. All participants will be expected to showcase their research in the form of a poster presentation at their Summer Research Symposium.

Students from small colleges or from underrepresented groups are especially encouraged to apply.  

What are the benefits?

  • Stipend: $7000 for the 10-week program (aprox. $700/week)
  • Housing: Room and board is provided at no additional cost
  • Advising: Free, exclusive advising and preparation for graduate school
