UA AHA Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) - Application Deadline

Are you a junior or senior undergraduate? Interested in doing cardiovascular research over the summer? 

The Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine is seeking undergraduate students to conduct cardiovascular research this summer.

The Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine is excited to announce a new summer undergraduate research program. The UA American Heart Association Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (UA AHA SURF) will kick off in the summer of 2025. UA AHA SURF provides undergraduate students with the opportunity to do research in a cardiovascular research laboratory for 10 weeks during the summer from June 2 - August 8, 2025. The focus of the UA AHA SURF Program is training in cardiovascular drug discovery.

What are the benefits?

  • Trainees will receive a $6,000 stipend for the research experience
  • Up to $3,000 in travel funds to attend a national AHA conference

Who is eligible to apply?

  • Applicants must be enrolled full-time or be recent graduates of an undergraduate degree program at a four-year college or university.
  • Students must be classified as junior or senior academic status at the start of the program, or they may complete the program immediately following graduation.
  • Students must be citizens of the United States or foreign nationals holding a student, exchange, or permanent resident visa.
