Member of the Graduate Faculty

GOULD-SIMPSON, 208

Marta Codeço is an Assistant Professor of Practice at the Geosciences Department at the University of Arizona, specializing in Economic Geology. Additionally, she is a Guest Researcher at GFZ Potsdam (Germany).

Her research experience and interests center on the geochemistry of mineralizing systems, igneous and metamorphic petrology, mineral exploration, and links between magmatism and metallogeny. From the macro- to the micro-scale, Marta employs a combination of field relationships (including geological mapping and core logging), petrographic analysis, high-resolution imaging, in-situ analytical techniques, whole-rock lithogeochemistry, and numerical modeling of ore systems.

She earned a BSc in Geology and Natural Resources and an MSc in Economic Geology from the University of Lisbon, Portugal (2012, 2015) and a Ph.D. in Geochemistry from the University of Potsdam, Germany (2019).
