The National Nuclear Security Administration Minority Serving Institutions Internship Program (NNSA-MSIIP) provides paid opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students enrolled at Minority Serving Institutions. NNSA-MSIIP is open to all academic backgrounds.
NNSA-MSIIP offers summer or year-long internship opportunities starting June 1st, 2026, with the NNSA, national laboratories, and site offices. Internships involve projects focused on engineering, science, research, technology, policy, business, and government relations.
Program participants will develop the experience needed to "jump-start" their careers and potential for future opportunities within the federal government. Interns will be mentored by experienced staff, researchers, and scientists, to develop professional skills and enhance leadership capabilities.
- Stipends starting at $750/week (based on education level).
- Allowances to offset costs, including:
- Commuting supplements
- Housing supplements
- Inbound/outbound travel
- Virtual participation supplement
- Be 18 years old by June 1, 2026.
- Be a U.S. citizen at the time of application.
- Have and maintain a minimum undergraduate or graduate GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale).
- Be enrolled as a part-time or full-time undergraduate or graduate student at an accredited Minority Serving Institution during the Fall of 2025
