FCM 304 Pain & Society Course - Enrollment Details

Are you a Medicine major? Interested in pain management polices among underserved populations?

FCM 304: Pain & Society is a new course offered in Fall 2024 by the College of Medicine - Tucson taught by instructors Dr. Allison Huff and Dr. Jennifer Schultz De La Rosa. Using an integrated, experiential approach, this course will equip students– who will be future health care professionals, family caregivers, and patients–to conceptualize pain and pain management through a collaborative and interdisciplinary lens. The course will also provide a broad overview of pain and outcomes in various groups. The impact of the opioid epidemic on healthcare policies in the United States will be discussed. Special emphasis will be placed on the unique strengths and opportunities facing health professionals committed to improving outcomes among underserved patient populations in Arizona.

This course will count for 3 BSM credits and also utilizes an experiential learning approach.
