Job Description:
The Office of Undergraduate Research and Scholar Development (URSD) at the University of Arizona is seeking motivated undergraduate students to join our team of Undergraduate Research Ambassadors (URAs). URAs help promote and communicate the value, accessibility, and impact of undergraduate research to the University of Arizona student community. In this role, URAs present research opportunities to classes, clubs, and student organizations on- and off-campus, provide personalized guidance to students seeking research experiences, and create engaging social media content, graphics, and short videos that highlight research opportunities and skills needed to pursue them. URAs also research on- and off-campus opportunities, update the Research Experiences page on career.arizona.edu and the undergraduate research website at ur.arizona.edu, interview, photograph, and promote student and faculty research projects, and collect and communicate data with students, faculty, and staff. We are seeking undergraduate students with research experience in any field. We are particularly interested in second- and third-year students willing to grow into a lead URA role in future semesters. For our 2026 team, we have specific openings for team members who can fulfill the following positions:
- Experienced in research and majoring in a non-STEM field.
- Strong writing and editing skills and an interest in research communication and/or journalism.
- Videography experience, including capturing and editing video content to document research activities and events for presentations, outreach, and archival purposes.
- Social media experience, including managing platforms, creating engaging and informative content, and promoting undergraduate research opportunities and achievements.
Don’t meet these specific categories? No worries! We are hiring multiple positions and seek students who are passionate and interested in helping others and willing to learn! All URAs should be prepared to meet 1:1 with students seeking help, respond to email queries, attend tabling events, and present prepared information in front of a group.
Duties (shared among all URA team members):
- Hold information sessions about undergraduate research opportunities for classes, campus groups, and other organizations
- Present information about undergraduate research opportunities at recruitment and orientation events
- Write and produce social media and other promotional content. (Instagram, YouTube, weekly email lists, etc.)
- Read, delegate, and/or respond to emails into the Undergraduate Research inbox.
- Be present at promotional and recruitment events -- meet your major fair, Wildcat Welcome events, career days, departmental events, etc.
- Recruit volunteers to share testimonials and research experience generate promotional and social media content.
- Help brainstorm and plan aspects of UR projects and promotional activities.
- Contribute to data collection for URA program evaluation.
- Other duties as assigned related to outreach, creation, and promotion of undergraduate research programs on campus.
Preferred qualification for all positions:
Federal Work-Study funding is preferred but not a requirement to apply. If you have received a Federal Work-Study award for the 2025-2026 academic year, please share your funding status in your application documents.
