University of Michigan NSF-Funded Summer Research Program - Application Deadline

Interested in pharmacology and medicine? Want to learn more about the chemical synthesis of medication?

The NSF Emerging Frontiers in Research and Innovation (EFRI) program at the University of Michigan is inviting 6 undergraduate students to gain on-campus and hands-on research experiences in three Materials Science and Engineering labs in their summer program. This NSF EFRI collaborative project aims to address the challenges in pharmaceutical processing and personalized medicines, by converging several new breakthroughs in additive manufacturing, molecular and crystallization modeling, surface science and engineering, and patient-specific in vitro disease models. This opportunity is open to all undergraduates who have not yet had any lab or research experiences. The students in the REM program will have several choices of research projects based on their interests. Details for projects are at: http://ecm.engin.umich.edu and https://shteinlab.engin.umich.edu

They welcome applications from students with the following backgrounds: LGBTQIA+, minority, women, economically disadvantaged, veterans, K-12 teachers, and disabled individuals.

This program will run from May 2024 - August 2024.
