Summer Research Opportunities Program (SROP) - Application Deadline

Interested in graduate school? Need research experience to prepare for graduate school?
The Summer Research Opportunities Program (SROP) is a gateway to graduate education at Big Ten Academic Alliance universities. The goal of this 11-week program is to increase the number of underrepresented students who pursue graduate study and research careers. SROP helps prepare undergraduates for graduate study through intensive research experiences with faculty mentors and enrichment activities. The Michigan State University (MSU) SROP Program provides an opportunity to combine professional development with applied work experience in your career field. This is also an opportunity for MSU faculty to evaluate you as a potential graduate student for when you do apply.
The program runs from May 18th, 2024 to July, 21st, 2024.
What activities are included?
- MSU SROP Statistics Camp: This workshop is designed to assess students’ ability and background in statistics and provide them with the statistical tools.
- Professional Development Workshop Series: The series provides professional developmental workshops about how to successfully apply to and complete graduate programs at intensive research institutions. The workshops presented throughout the program align with the program's “GO GRAD” model.
- Mid-Michigan Symposium for Undergraduate Research (Mid-SURE): Showcase your research at the symposium for MSU faculty, students, and peers from other summer research programs.
- MSU AGEP Community: Alliances for Graduate Education and the Professoriate (AGEP) is funded by the National Science Foundation. The primary goals of AGEP are to (1) significantly increase the number of underrepresented students obtaining graduate degrees in STEM as well as the social, behavioral and economic sciences, and (2) enhance the preparation of these students for faculty positions at colleges and universities. MSU SROP cohorts actively participate in MSU AGEP Community activities throughout the summer.
