Sponsored by the Universities Research Association (URA), this inaugural program engages women science and engineering undergraduate students from under-represented groups to conduct research at Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (Fermilab) in fulfillment of its mission.

Research Areas:  Particle Physics, Accelerators and Detectors, Applied Physics and Superconducting Technology, Computational Science/Artificial Intelligence, Emerging Technologies

Projects: LBNF/DUNE US, PIP-II, HL-LHC AUP & CMS, Mu2e, Superconducting Quantum Materials and Systems (SQMS)

Eligibility:

  • Women science and engineering majors from under-represented groups
    • American Indian/Alaska Native
    • African American/Black
    • Hispanic/Latino
    • Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander
  • Academic Disciplines
    • All Engineering
    • Physics
    • Chemistry
    • Material Science
    • Mathematics
    • Computer Science
  • Enrolled full-time in a degree-granting program at a U.S. institution of higher education located in the U.S. or its territories.
  • Junior and seniors not graduating prior to December 2023.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.

Key Dates & Details:

Application Deadline: April 12, 2023, at 11:59:59 PM ET

Program Duration: 10 Weeks, between June and August 2023

Acceptance Date: May 1, 2023

Salary: Stipend is based on 40 hours/week, 10 weeks total, at $23/hour.

Housing: Off-campus housing will be provided at $65/night.

Transportation: Up to a total of $1,000 will be provided in reimbursement for allowable inbound/outbound travel expenses.
