I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Arizona College of Medicine in Tucson, USA. As a self-motivated and accomplished veterinary research scientist, I have extensive experience in repurposing U.S. FDA-approved drugs, such as 4-aminopyridine (4-AP) and erythropoietin (EPO), for the treatment of orthopaedic traumas. I use small animal models to study the regeneration and functional recovery of peripheral nerves, bones, skin, and muscles. I also have experience in understanding cellular and paracrine signaling in response to injury, using ex vivo cell cultures of Schwann cells, macrophages, keratinocytes, fibroblasts, osteoblasts, and mesenchymal stem cells. My novel findings have also progressed to clinical trials at our hospital.

Research Interest
I am an academic veterinary research scientist. My area of specialization is in multidisciplinary translational and regenerative medicine, with a focus on studying the repurposing effect of the USFDA-approved 4-aminopyridine and Erythropoietin in trauma conditions of peripheral nerve, skeletal muscle, skin, bone, and intestines.
