Undergraduate Research Driving Inclusive Speech-Language Care and Community Impact
Undergraduate research is helping students create meaningful change far beyond the classroom. This spring, graduating senior Alicia Salazar Contreras was recognized by the College of Science for her outstanding contributions in Speech, Language & Hearing Sciences, including undergraduate research focused on improving culturally and linguistically responsive care for Spanish-speaking communities. Through the development of “Sopa de Pescado,” a Spanish-language assessment passage for motor speech disorders, Salazar Contreras is helping expand access to more inclusive speech-language pathology resources while preparing to continue her research and clinical training at the University of Arizona.
