Are you interested in conducting educational research and in pursuing a PhD?
The UArizona College of Education and the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Consortium (UROC) have teamed up to offer the Access, Wellness, and Relational Determinants of Student Success (AWARDSS-PLUS) program, which is a flexible, high quality, competency-based research apprenticeship with potential for real-world impact on US Education. This UROC-affiliated program at the University of Arizona can prepare you for doctoral study in education, social science, and/or public health through an exceptional year-long training program.
In 12 months, AWARDSS-PLUS will provide their selected research fellows with specialized educational training and with application assistance for graduate school through:
- Fall/Spring graduate writing courses
- GRE training and fee waivers
- Summer tuition and fees paid by UROC for the UROC-PREP credit-bearing courses
- Summer room and board provided (or off-campus housing equivalencies)

Financial package of up to $9,200 in stipend (inc. room and board support noted below) and additionally up to $3,800 in professional development and travel fund
The typical eligibility requirements are:
- Juniors, Seniors, or Post-Bacc (within 5 years) class standing
- OR current Master's Student
- 3.0 GPA or above
- Intent to pursue a PhD
- Underrepresented in Academia
