The Innovation in Buildings (IBUILD) Graduate Research Fellowship is now accepting applications from graduate and future graduate students for their internship program.
The IBUILD Graduate Research Fellowship is an internship managed by Oak Ridge National Laboratory. It aims to strengthen the pool of well-trained, diverse PhD scholars who are equipped for research-intensive building technologies careers in academia, industry, and the national labs. Fellowship will be awarded in 12-month increments based on an annual review of research progress and sustained alignment with designated BTO research areas IBUILD Fellows will receive research and educational support to conduct innovative research at their home institution in an area with demonstrated relevance to building decarbonization. In addition to funding high quality research, the fellowship will provide professional development, mentoring, and networking opportunities.
What are the benefits?
- Competitive stipend of $35,000, an allowance to offset the costs of health insurance up to $20,000, research travel and materials up to $12,000, and a limited tuition allowance up to $25,000

Who is eligible to apply?
- Must be a US citizen or permanent US resident
- Must intend to enroll or be enrolled full-time in a research-focused PhD program
- Must conduct STEM research in an area with demonstrated relevance to building energy efficiency
- Cumulative GPA: 3.00 or higher on 4.00 scale
